Learning about the culture and lifestyle is one of the most important aspects of travelling. By doing so, you will know how to interact with locals, be aware of local customs and get a better chance to fully indulge in your new surroundings.

Our culture week does exactly this!

During the program, you will learn the basics of Ugandan culture, explore the location and new surroundings, learn how to cook Ugandan food, go sightseeing and more. This week of relaxation aldo gives you the chance to meet other participants and make new friends!

Aims & Objectives
  • Help you get familiarized with your new surroundings
  • Teach you helpful Luganda and Swahili phrases
  • Broaden your knowledge of the local customs, history, and culture of Uganda
  • Provide you with a full induction, preparing you for a longer stay

After breakfast, we’ll have a two hour cultural introduction where you will learn about Ugandan culture and customs. Afterwards, we will head to the village center for sightseeing and will also show you where everything is (i.e. shops, pharmacies, etc). In the evening, there will be a special dinner to welcome you to Uganda!


After breakfast, we will have a language class where you can learn helpful phrases for your stay in Uganda. After lunch, we will enjoy a cooking class...with dinner being the food that you have cooked in the class, so pay close attention!


After breakfast, we’ll visit some museums and go sightseeing in the area. Afterwards, we will also learn where the post office, bus station, and supermarket are, so you know where everything you may need is!


After breakfast, we’ll visit the zoo and then have lunch outside. In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to Victoria Lake, where you can lay down and relax on the sand. Later on, there will be a the project discussion, where you can learn about our projects in Uganda and ask any further questions!


After breakfast, we will pay a visit to all of our projects in the area so you can get an insight of what we do. After lunch, we will take a Ugandan sandal-making class.

This schedule can be changed and/or amended depending on weather conditions, local conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
