We need you to take part in a 5+ week sports coaching project for children in South Africa. On this project you will jump onto one of our fun buses and visit various schools around the township communities of Port Elizabeth. Coach a range of sports with other volunteer sports coaches and have a truly rewarding experience. You’ll be part of a sustainable project that reaches more than 20,000 children a year and gives a few young people the chance to further their education at top schools and universities in the area. We use sport to bring kids together to have fun whilst also using it as a tool to tackle social issues and build life-skills in the children we work with.

Part of your own South African experience will be to soak up all things sporty and also have an amazing cultural experience. We’ll take you on a safari, you’ll get to surf the waves at the famous Jefferies Bay and if you are really into your adrenaline fix, then you could do one of the world’s highest bungee jumps!

Sports Available: Football, Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Swimming, Cricket and Basketball.

We have set start dates throughout the year with January and July being our busiest months.

We need you to do a minimum of 5 weeks because we want you to add value to the projects and also develop yourself and make good friends throughout the experience. You can come for a maximum of 12 weeks (3 months).

Please contact us to check availability for when you would like to visit us.

Accommodation and Food
Your accommodation is basic but comfortable and you will stay in a dormitory style room, although you can upgrade to a single room for an additional charge and if we have availability. The accommodation has a very sociable atmosphere and you will find it a great place to relax and unwind in the evenings as there is a swimming pool, games room and bar in site. The accommodation is also centrally located to your volunteer project with shops and other useful amenities either a short walk or taxi ride away. With so many volunteers living together, you will soon find our communal house your new home, away from home.

You will be provided with three meals a day. Breakfast is help yourself from a range of cereals and toast. You will be provided with a packed lunch because of being on placement during this time but will return to a lovely home cooked meal in the evening made by our great cooking team. There will be a mix of Western and local style foods... South Africans love their meat so you'll be sure to have a braai (BBQ) or two on this visit with us.

Social Life in South Africa
We believe it is important to give our volunteers the chance to unwind and have fun while they are away. Our in-country team therefore organises a variety of social activities to bring volunteers together, to share their experiences and, above all, have a good time. The social life in South Africa really is second to none and you will return home with some truly unforgettable memories and friends for life. With so many people living together, social sports teams are pretty much unavoidable and there are plenty of local teams to play for. For the less competitive, why not head to the beach for some casual volleyball and football matches in the African sunshine?

And, if animals are your thing, volunteering in South Africa is an ideal choice. With trips to Kragga Kama Game Park, the Lion Park, the Addo Elephant Park and the Oceanarium, you will certainly experience your fair share of big game and African wildlife. You'll also get the chance to experience a Boma (an authentic South African meal under the stars). What more could you want from a social life abroad?

Most foreigners will only require a visa to enter South Africa if they intend to stay for more than 90 days. We recommend you check the visa requirements for your own nationality by visiting the South African High Commission website.
