You will be working at a local school and arranging non-formal classes for the children, teenagers and sometimes adults on the topic of proper healthcare. Since Rwanda is a developing country, the people living in small rural villages often lack basic knowledge in hygiene and how to stay healthy. Therefore, you will be teaching the very basics including how to wash hands, use the toilet, shower properly, and also about proper nutrition, etc.

You will teach morning classes at the school and during the afternoons, you will be able to educate the grownups. Besides improving their health education, we also aim to help them practice English through interaction with foreigners. English is widely spoken in Rwanda and in fact, it was recently made an official language. However, since it is just one of the many languages spoken in the country, the English level in rural areas is not ideal and learning the language can have a great impact in the village’s future.

Additionally, since there are many children from families whose parents may not be able to afford healthy food, we also arrange feeding projects where you can take part in.

Please note this trip may require you to purchase a cultural experience week with it. Click Here to find the relevant cultural experience week based on the country where this trip operates in.
