The orphanage provides housing, food and education for orphaned children as well as those whose families cannot afford to take care of them.

The program consists of renovation, beautification, and education work that shall improve the centre and living standards for all the children. Additionally, you will also get the chance to teach English on a non-formal basis, to help the children in their vegetable garden (for their studies and own consumption) or to create activities and arrange workshops for hygiene, cultural exchange, environmental and other important issues or anything else that might come to mind. Our main aim, however, is always to renovate and beautify the orphanage grounds so do expect to work long hours under the sun and get your hands dirty!

Please note this trip may require you to purchase a cultural experience week with it. Click Here to find the relevant cultural experience week based on the country where this trip operates in.

Aims & Objectives

The orphanage offers a safe environment for children coming from underprivileged backgrounds. Therefore, the orphanage concentrates on the well-being of these children and offers them assistance in developing into young adults. Other children come from remote areas of Mongolia, where education is non-existent.

The aim of the program, therefore, is to maximize and continue to improve the facilities at the children’s home and to help bring smiles to the children along the way!

Schedule
Week 1

Monday to Tuesday

Experience exotic Mongolia, learn basic language skills to communicate with local Mongolian people, get know about their ancient culture, visit the Chinggis Square & National Museum, and walk through ancient bazaars to capture the sounds, light and colors.

Wednesday to Friday

After breakfast, you will be off to the children’s home. You will then be organized into groups and be briefed on your tasks by our coordinator and the centre’s staff. Expect to do heavy work at the site for 4-5 hours per day with a lunch break in between. Lunch is always at the centre with kids.

Week 2 & Onwards

Monday to Friday

From you second week onwards, you will take part in various renovation and beautification activities planned by us through our coordinator. A typical day would begin at 09:00. Lunch will be served between 12:30 to 13:00. Later after lunch, you will continue with your assignment at the renovation site.

Please note, from middle of August to middle of May you will be participating only in the teaching activity at the children’s home. This is mainly due to extreme cold weather conditions
