The Explore Borneo program is one of the best options for cultural learning and experiences with people living harmoniously with nature, a perfect way to experience the adventurous side of this beautiful rainforest. This program offers adventure, culture, sightseeing and conservation in a span of 2 weeks. For those who want to experience Borneo Fully in the shortest time, this is the best solution for thrill-seekers that cannot stay still. The first week of the program explores the Kuching scenery and learning about local cultures and customs. You will learn about Bahasa, a local language, visit local bazaar, village and markets where you will see traditional art or handicraft by the tribal people. Museum visitation shows you the history of Sarawak. You will also get to visit one of the famous Orangutan conservation site in Borneo.

The second week will be the exciting Borneo adventurous experience. You will be thrilled by the flora and fauna only found in Borneo. Prepare to sweat a lot this week, as you will do a lot of jungle trekking tours. A break in between for you to have a guided traditional cooking session. You also get to taste the natural organic ingredients which are sourced from the forests.

Aims & Objectives

The aims & objectives is to give an experience of Malaysia, and also on the conservation front experience the Borneo’s natural habitats.

Week 1

Day 1: Monday

An introduction to Kuching, learn about the city of cat. You will also pick up a few Malay (Bahasa) words, ask as many questions as you like about the language during this session. A hustle bustle city walk where you can see the Cat Statue, well preserved pre-war buildings, and Kuching city life.

Day 2: Tuesday

Visit Malay Village within the City of Kuching. Followed by Fort Margherita built in 1880 by the Rajah Putih (White King), it is currently a Police Museum. In the evening, you will take a traditional boat cruise, enjoy the romantic evening sunset, beautiful lighting along Sarawak River.

Day 3: Wednesday

Matang Wildlife Park trains animals in survival skills and takes care of wild animals especially Orangutans which have either been found injured, orphaned or previously kept as illegal pets. The animals  trained in survival skills will be released and will roam freely in the forests. In the afternoon, you will learn some traditional art class.

Day 4: Thursday

In Sarawak’s Cultural Village, you get to see buildings with different traditional structures, long houses, and houses with Chinese and Malay influence. After that, you can enjoy the sunny beach in Damai, where the Rain Forest Music Festival is held annually.

Day 5: Friday

Visit the Fairy Caves where you will see unusual stalactites and stalagmites that were formed thousands of years ago. You will proceed to a natural hot spring nearby the caves.

Week 2

Day 8: Monday

Lundu is a beautiful peaceful town about 2 hours drive from Kuching. Meet the friendly people here. After the town exploration, visit to a beautiful beach in Lundu. Enjoy a cup of aromatic local coffee at the beach cafe. Proceed to Gunung Gading National Park, stay overnight in the park, listen to the natural music played by the residents in forest.

Day 9: Tuesday

In the morning, you will proceed to Gunung Gading National trekking, where you might have a chance to view Rafflesia which can grow up to a meter. Go to Sematan where you will receive hospitality the Bidayuh way. Enjoy the traditional food for dinner. You get to see what normally people do for living.

Day 10: Wednesday

You will attend a guided traditional cooking session, learn about natural organic ingredients used by the tribe. Then you will get to taste your own cooking for lunch. You will transfer back to our centre in the afternoon after lunch. Enjoy the nice view along the way where there are plenty of plants or trees.

Day 11: Thursday

Bako National Park might be one of the most beautiful parks along the beach in Sarawak. You will have a chance to come close to wild animal, such as silver leaf monkeys, frogs, insects, etc. Sighting of Proboscis monkey is possible if you are lucky, because they are really shy and move away from human beings.

Day 12: Friday

The most visited National Park in Sarawak. You can find many different types of palm trees, orchids, other flora in the park. Many families in Kuching frequent this park over the weekend to enjoy the nature and a more relaxed trekking in Kubah.

Day 13: Saturday

A farewell party will be held for those who are departing the next day. Participants who stay on for projects may also join the party or opt for other activities.

Day 14: Sunday

Departure day.
