Twice per month on Mondays, you can choose to participate in our teaching program at a local school in Lovina. The teaching curriculum consists of a variety of English-based subjects, offered in a playful manner to children from the local area age from 5-12 years. You can choose to stand in front of a class with other participants or alone. Each group consists of approximately 25 bright and cheerful students, who rather play more than learn. From Monday to Friday, participants will be surrounded by many children. Caring for them and understanding their behavior is a hard criterion to participate in this program, as well as having a good level of English. The experienced teacher will find the freedom to be creative and design their own lesson plans and a refreshing change for some of our more mature teaching participants, who tell us it takes them back to the “good old days”. Those with less or no experience will have required support and guidance from our teaching centre, a relaxed environment matching the Balinese way of doing things, but with up-to-date teaching methods from experienced teachers.

Please note this trip may require you to purchase a cultural experience week with it. Click Here to find the relevant cultural experience week based on the country where this trip operates in.

Aims & Objectives

To support local schools by helping to take care of the children, playing with them and teaching them basic English.

Schedule
Monday

Typically, you will be working at the kindergarten in the morning hours. After lunch, you will have time to plan and organize activities for the next day.

On Monday, after the breakfast, you will prepare lesson plans for your first day of teaching at the local school. After you are ready for the new program, you will then have lunch and set out to your placement. At the local school, you will be meeting many children coming from various backgrounds and they will definitely make all your efforts worth. Once your complete your first day, you can then come back and attend a meeting where you will be sharing your feedback regarding the your new experience.

Tuesday to Wednesday

During these two days, you will prepare lesson plans after the breakfast and leave to school after lunch. Now that you are accustomed to the school setting, you will be able to work closely with children and improve their education level. After your program, you will come back to the Center to have dinner.

Thursday

Today after the breakfast, you will start preparing lessons to be taught at school in the afternoon. After lunch, you will attend the teaching program at school. However, Thursday evening would be special as there would be special welcome and goodbye dinner organized at the accommodation.

Friday

On Friday, you will have an early morning breakfast and start preparing the lessons to teach at the local school. Once you prepare all the relevant lessons for the day, you can then set out to the local school and start teaching what you have prepared.

Remark: The teaching plan will be confirmed every Friday. The program can change depending on the school plan/activities from the local students, weather and local conditions. The working time will be around 4 hours a day.
