Changing Worlds has teaching and sports coaching placements in the Umtata and Lydenburg districts of the country.
These are rural placements with access to towns where you can enjoy your weekends.
Lydenburg, in the Mpumalanga province, is a beautiful picturesque old town. The town itself is going through a renaissance at present due to the recent mining of platinum and chromite.
In contrast Umtata is in Eastern Cape province. This is a more cosmopolitan and modern city with a lot more for you to do. The city enjoys malls that accommodates every kind of fast food outlet.
East London is a venue for the 2010 group matches of the Soccer World Cup - this is less than a two hour drive away from Umtata.
Changing Worlds also offers opportunities to join a team of enthusiastic marine research scientists in the coastal town of Gansbaai - some two hours drive east of Cape Town.
Gansbaai is known as the 'World's capital for the Great White shark' - however it is also home to whales, penguins, dolphins and seals!
This small coastal town is on the tourist trail although it is quiet during the Winter months particularly.
